Mac OS X bug fix

StdCLib Bug

A bug has been discovered in some MacOS X 10.4.10 Intel systems.
It appears in some new computers sold after June 1st 2007.

If you have this problem the following error message will appear when you run sunPATH.

WHY ?
sunPATH accesses files in the MacOS system to open folders, display windows, print and other functions. One of these files (StdCLib) does not have a valid ID. When sunPATH looks for the file and can not find it sunPATH will displaying the error message.

We are working on a new release of sunPATH to work around this bug.

Until then you can use the following fix.

This is an apple script that looks for the system file with the invalid ID. If it finds the file it will duplicate the file, leaving the original file unchanged and then attach the valid ID to the duplicate file. Your system will then have BOTH files but sunPATH will use the corrected file. If the apple script does not find the file with the invalid ID then the apple script will quit without modifing any files.

Download the following file:

Repair StdCLib.dmg

The file should automatically open. Run the Repair StdCLib.applescript by double clicking on the file.

Now run the applescript.

A technical explaination is included in the apple script.
